Support the residents of the Serugeme and Nyakabuye

We’re thrilled to have donated a total of £1000.000 towards the Serugeme Suspended Bridge project.

As a profitable company, we believe in giving back to the community, in supporting charities, and in all around helping contribute to a better world.

The residents of the Serugeme and Nyakabuye communities are primarily involved in agricultural activities, with a void in other occupations due to the high degree of flooding almost year-round. Of the 4,111 community members who will be directly affected by the construction of a footbridge, there are 379 children and 512 women of child-bearing age.

The Mwogo River is too dangerous to cross due to flooding at least 330 days of the year, and when the river floods, access to critical resources is cut off. This river prevents collaboration between families on both sides. Residents are unable to access Buhanda, the main market most of the year, with swimming as their only option to cross. Some students take the extra 1.5-hour journey to distant access when going to study in high school. Access to the health clinic is more than 2.5 hours away without a more direct crossing. The Serugeme Suspended Bridge will provide safe, year-round access for the members of the communities in close vicinity, and will empower the communities out of poverty.
