Contract Success on £185m A9 Project with FastDraft and Transport Scotland
The A9 Dualling: Tomatin to Moy project is a key part of the Scottish Government’s £3.7 bn (at April 2023 prices) A9 Dualling Programme which will upgrade 83 miles (133 kilometres) of road from single to dual carriageway. The programme is one of the largest road infrastructure programmes in Scotland’s history.
Spanning 9.6 kilometres, the third section to be constructed between Tomatin and Moy includes a new grade-separated junction at Tomatin and four new left-in/left-out junctions, together with new crossings over and under the Highland Main Line Railway and over watercourses. Other features include new lay-bys, bus turning facilities and enhanced footpaths and cycleways.
The project will strengthen the connection between the Highlands and Scotland’s Central Belt for communities and business, bringing vital benefits for all road users, including bus services, through safer roads, improved journey time reliability and reduced driver frustration. It will also provide enhanced active travel routes for walkers, cyclists and horse riders.
