Team Tales - April 2023

Team Tales - April 2023

This month our Team Tales features Deborah Knibbs our very own Content & Community Director!

  • Can you describe yourself in 10 words?

I always find it difficult to describe myself, and in just 10 words! Tenacious, chatty, organised, professional, dependable, loyal, optimistic, efficient, effervescent, generous.
    • Tell us a little bit about yourself and your work background?

Having spent 20 years in banking, I decided it was time for a change and took a role at RICS, where I was an Engagement Manger for 14 years, before joining Built Intelligence.
      • How long have you been with Built Intelligence?

I joined BI in December 2020, then took a 3 month sabbatical in September 2022 and re-joined in December 2022 in my current role.
        • So, can you tell us what your role entails at BI and what a ‘day in the life of’ looks like!

So in a nutshell I am responsible for our training content, and community tasks for our platform.  I support the team and new clients with our training solutions and work with our fantastic community of contributors and authors to deliver on point training, e-learning, webinars, conferences and workshops. No two days are the same and that’s why this role is so enjoyable and  I get to work with a diverse range of people – what's not to love!

          • What's the best thing about your role?

The fabulous team I work with, its not often you find a bunch of people all with a great work ethic, similar values and who are all at the top of their game…

          • What has been your finest moment at BI – what achievement have you been most proud of?

Our recent BI NEC User Group conference, which we also livestreamed – it was a great day and the feedback has been very positive – not least for our Keep Calm and Raise an EWN mug which must be one of the most popular event takeaways in history!
          •  Tell us a little something about the person behind the role?!

Most people who know me appreciate my positivity, I am very much a glass half full type of person. I love spending time at my holiday home in Spain, soaking up the rays, culture, lifestyle and of course the odd glass of sangria, but really wish my grasp of the Spanish language was better!
            • Final thoughts or tips?

To live a good life is to understand that life is not just made up of pleasure, wealth, and material things. It’s also living a life in pursuit of personal excellence. So be kind, genuine, honest and make the most of each day…. Live every day with a fresh new start. Don’t be held back by what happened yesterday, the day before, the week before, the year before, or even decades ago. Life is short, so live in the present moment.
