Team Tales – December 2025

Community & Engagement Manager, Carolyn Robins

This month’s Team Tale is with our charismatic and ever-curious (some would say nosey!) Community & Engagement Manager, Carolyn Robins. Known for her love of people and ability to juggle partnerships, training and a glass of fizz with equal finesse, we’re diving into the person behind the role – and the spark that keeps our community thriving.

Can you describe yourself in 10 words?

Bubbly, inquisitive, fun, family-obsessed, fizz-loving, energetic, creative, organised(ish), supportive, curious.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your work background?

I’ve always gravitated towards roles where people, partnerships and creativity sit at the heart of what I do. Before joining BI, I worked across a mix of community engagement, partner relations and training support, including my time at RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) which meant I was often the bridge between brilliant experts and the audiences who needed their knowledge most. I love bringing people together, creating meaningful connections, and helping turn great ideas into great content and training.

How long have you been with Built Intelligence?

I joined in March 2020, the exact week the world shut down for lockdown (excellent timing, I know!). It was a slightly surreal start, but I hit the ground running and haven’t looked back since.

So, can you tell us what your role entails at BI and what a ‘day in the life of’ looks like!

As Community & Engagement Manager, I work with our partners, trainers and contributors to develop and deliver content across our training academy. No two days look the same, but you’ll usually find me meeting with trainers and partners, chatting with our marketing team, sourcing new material, organising events, and supporting our FastDraft boffins to promote smarter contract management. I work part-time, so I pack a lot into each day – but that’s exactly how I like it!

What’s the best thing about your role?

The diversity – without a doubt. No two days look the same, and I love that I get to carve out my own path, make an impact, and be involved in everything from marketing to mentoring to strategy to content development. It keeps me energised, inspired and constantly learning.

What has been your finest moment at BI – what achievement have you been most proud of?

Oh, there are far too many to choose from! A few that stand out include:

  • Onboarding some incredible industry leaders to share best practice with our community
  • Helping shape and expand our training academy
  • Organising our annual conference – which now attracts a sell-out VIP guest list
  • And of course… the brilliant quarterly staff days and our legendary summer and Christmas parties (though we all know what happens at the party stays at the party!)

Tell us a little something about the person behind the role?!

Fun, family and fizz pretty much sums me up! When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me travelling (preferably somewhere sunny), with my feet in the sand or on a terrace overlooking the sea – ideally with a glass of bubbly in hand, Or knee-deep in another house renovation – yes, we’re serial movers and do-er-uppers! My family is a husband, two daughters, two grandchildren, a dog and 2 chickens plus a massive extended family spread across the globe!

I love good food, good company, and making memories whenever and wherever possible.

Final thoughts or tips?

Life’s too short – say yes to new adventures – whether that’s a new project, a new partnership, or just a spontaneous glass of fizz. Stay curious, stay kind, and remember: if in doubt, ask questions… or open the bubbles. Both tend to lead to great things!

The admin drag that slows projects If you’ve ever raised a contract notice, tracked deadlines across multiple projects, or tried to keep a complete record of communications, you’ll know how quickly admin can eat into productive time. For many project teams, it’s not the work itself that’s the issue - it’s the duplication, the chasing of missing details, and the “which version is the right one?” uncertainty that slows everything down.
