NEC3 ECSS Contractor Instruction (EI) Template

Use this free downloadable template to help you create a Contractor Instruction under the NEC3 Engineering and Construction Short Subcontract (ECSC).

The ECSS gives the Contractor wide ranging powers to issue instructions to the Subcontractor. Note, if an instruction will give rise to a compensation event, the Contractor is obliged to notify the Subcontractor of the compensation event at the time of giving the instruction. That notification can be given by using form ‘NEC3 ECSS Contractor Notification’

You can use this NEC3 ECSS template for a Contractor’s Instruction to do the following:

• Instruct under clause 14.2 to change the Subcontract Works Information
• Instruct under clause 21.3 to remove an employee
• Instruct under clause 30.4 to stop or not start work, or to start or restart work
• Instruct under clause 70.1 on how to deal with an object of value or historical interest
