The aim of this course is to outline the major areas of risk in construction projects, and some of the methods of dealing with these risks when procuring construction works.

After studying this course, you should be able to:-

1. Explain the characteristics of procurement methods and how they affect the involvement of the client, the separation of design from management, and reserving the client's right to alter the specification.
2. Explain the characteristics of procurement methods and how they affect the client's contractual remedies for defects, the ability to cater for the complexity of the project, the speed from inception to completion, the certainty of price and balancing the requirements.
