After a break for the summer, Team Tales returns this month featuring our marketing maestro, our content crafter, our wonderful wordsmith, Campaign Manager, Sarah Ramsay!
Can you describe yourself in 10 words?
Determined, Helpful, Amiable, Professional, Whimsical, Adaptable, Inquisitive, Collaborative, Creative and Self-Motivated.
Tell us a little bit about yourself and your work background?
I was born in America but have been living in the UK for over 6 years. Although I’ve dipped my toes in several different industries including heritage, manufacturing, health and safety and now construction, I’ve been a part of the marketing team in each progressing up the ladder from Intern and now Manager. I fell into marketing after acquiring my MBA and have enjoyed the journey of refining and developing my skills and expertise.
How long have you been with Built Intelligence?
I started working with Built Intelligence about mid-March 2024.
So, can you tell us what your role entails at BI and what a ‘day in the life of’ looks like!
In the spirit of marketing and trying to find a way to say something without saying it flat out or sounding like a broken record, I’d say I get quite a bit of variety in my role when it comes to marketing. Some days I’m working full out on a new campaign including all aspects from copywriting and content creation to working with the sales team on targeting and messaging. On other days it can be a mix of working on things in the backend of our CRM, sourcing new BI collateral, managing the website, creating new social media posts and so on. It’s one of the things I love about being in a generalist marketing role – I get to use my creativity and it’s hard for me to get bored!
What’s the best thing about your role?
It’s definitely a tie between getting to experience new creative projects and working with a lovely and supportive team.
What has been your finest moment at BI – what achievement have you been most proud of?
I’d say I’m most proud of taking the lead on the production of our Behind Built Intelligence video, which you can view here. 😊 https://www.builtintelligence.com/pages/about
Tell us a little something about the person behind the role?!
I get a bit embarrassed talking personally about myself, but here are a few snippets about me. When I’m not sticking my nose in a fantasy novel or trying my hand at a new sewing pattern, you can find me wandering through nature parks and the countryside, exploring museums, art galleries and historical sites, trying new recipes in the kitchen or playing video games with friends. And just to throw in something more ubiquitous, I love travelling and getting to experience different cultures and try local foods.
Final thoughts or tips?
In a world that’s constantly moving at what feels like breakneck speed, it’s worth remembering that one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself is time—time to slow down, reflect, and genuinely savour life’s journey. Finding solace in the small, quiet moments is what makes life truly beautiful.
